Hold-open systems

Fire barriers and doorways between fire compartments must be closed to prevent the spread of smoke and fire. Smoke and fire doors may be equipped with a hold-open system that allows the door to remain open as long as it is ensured that it will close properly in an emergency.

A hold-open system includes a smoke detector, a release and hold-open device, and a power supply.
