Safety for electrical equipment
DGUV Inspection
Electrical equipment is an indispensable part of everyday work – from laptops in the office to drills on construction sites. But it's precisely this everyday use that poses risks: Even the smallest defects can lead to electric shocks, smoldering fires, or significant damage to buildings and equipment.
To avoid such hazards while simultaneously meeting legal requirements, regular inspections are essential. The solution: DGUV inspections.
What is a DGUV test?
DGUV Regulation 3 (formerly BGV A3) is a legally required safety inspection for electrical systems and equipment. It obliges companies to regularly inspect both mobile equipment (e.g., office equipment, tools) and stationary equipment (e.g., permanently installed machines) for safety.
These inspections are part of the German Industrial Safety Ordinance (BetrSichV) and the occupational health and safety guidelines of the professional associations, specifically DGUV Regulations 3 and 4. The goal is to effectively protect employees and property.

Inspection periods – what should be considered?
The frequency of inspections depends on the respective operating environment and the error rate:
- In offices or comparable areas
- Guideline: every 6 months
Maximum permissible interval: 2 years
- On construction sites
- Guideline: every 3 months
Maximum permissible interval: 1 year
- In manufacturing facilities, workshops, or comparable environments
- Guideline: every 6 months
- Maximum permissible interval: 1 year
Good to know: If an error rate of less than 2% is achieved during inspections, the inspection intervals may be extended. We are happy to advise you individually on the optimal inspection strategy for your company.
