Cyber security: KÖTTER Security acquires stake in Luxembourg-based IT specialist

Security Operations Centre supports customers against cyber attacks

-> G.I.P. Luxembourg-based S.à r.L.: experienced IT security and compliance provider has been successfully established on the German market for nearly 25 years

-> With the Security Operations Centre (SOC) at their core, operators of critical infrastructures and others are taking their IT security to a new level

-> This makes KÖTTER Security one of the first security service providers in Europe to offer genuine 360-degree security solutions

Essen (23.09.2024). The KÖTTER Security Group – which operates throughout Germany – has acquired a stake in G.I.P. S.à r.L. The Luxembourg-based company specialises in IT security and compliance. By adding the complex field of cyber security to its existing portfolio, the largest family-owned company in the security industry that operates in Germany has become one of the first security service providers in Europe to offer genuine, 360° security solutions that are operated entirely in-house.

“With nearly 25 years of market presence and a team of dedicated specialists, G.I.P. Possesses in-depth industry expertise in the assessment and defence of cyber and compliance risks. Operators of critical infrastructures – e.g. in the financial and energy sectors, healthcare or logistics – which are particularly exposed to the ever-increasing cyber risks, will benefit from this,” explains Friedrich P. Kötter, member of the Board of Directors. “Our strategic investment, therefore, represents the ideal extension of our existing security solutions. This allows us to offer our customers a portfolio that no other player in the German-speaking world can match.” The addition of IT security is seen as the final piece of the puzzle in becoming one of the first providers in Europe to offer its customers comprehensive, 360-degree security solutions from a single source. Going forward, the company will market these under the “KÖTTER 360” brand.

The central pillars of KÖTTER 360 – in addition to consulting and the newly acquired cyber security expertise – include the areas of personnel security (e.g. plant security), security technology (e.g. intrusion and video surveillance technology), fire protection (e.g. company and plant fire brigade) and alarm management (through the company’s proprietary DIN and VdS-certified emergency call and service control centre).

Certified information security
Thanks to its holistic expertise, G.I.P. – which started its operational activities in Frankfurt am Main in 2000 – offers comprehensive services that are certified in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 27001 for information security, implemented by certified cyber analysts and where clients benefit from short response times around the clock. Companies in Germany, in particular, place their trust in these strengths, which has enabled this experienced IT security and compliance provider to remain successfully established on the German market for almost 25 years.

Broad cyber security portfolio
G.I.P.’s services range from IT security consultancy – supporting clients in planning and implementing their IT and cyber security requirements – to specific consulting services pertaining to Cloud Security and the Security Operations Centre (SOC), as the centrepiece for integrated SIEM/SOC solutions. “The SOC – in which the team of experts handles the monitoring of the customer’s cyber security and their Security Information & Event Management (SIEM) systems, thereby preparing customers for a worst-case scenario in the most effective way possible and, if the worst comes to the worst, also taking action against specific cyber attacks – enables clients to take their protection concept to a whole new level,” emphasises Dirk H. Bürhaus. In addition to his current responsibilities within the KÖTTER Group, he is now also Managing Director of G.I.P., thereby forming a new management duo together with the previous Managing Director, Georg Kramb.

The prevention and defence measures listed include the containment and assessment of a current risk, active support for the affected customer in the elimination of security incidents, and lending support in the resumption of regular operations. “All this includes an on-site visit within 24 hours if necessary, in order that our customers can rely on all-inclusive cyber protection,” explains Bürhaus.

One further advantage from the customer’s standpoint is that G.I.P.’s services reduce their own personnel and financial outlay for IT security monitoring and IT risk detection, given that there is no need to invest in hardware and software or incur the increasingly complex costs of recruiting IT security specialists and their subsequent training when establishing their own structures.

Experience G.I.P. “live”
Anyone who would like to experience the cyber security specialist “live” will have the chance to do so from 22 to 24 October in Nuremberg: at the it-sa Expo&Congress – Europe’s leading trade fair for IT security. International IT security experts and decision-makers will meet at the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg to discuss challenges and trends unfolding within cyber security. And another thing to look forward to there: the team from KÖTTER Security and G.I.P., who look forward to meeting you in person, and who are on hand to offer personalised advice.
