Our history in numbers and moments

Since its founding in 1934, the KÖTTER Group has developed from a regional security service provider to one of the leading providers of facility services in Germany.

As an independent, third-generation family business, we offer customized solutions in the areas of personal security, cybersecurity and security technology, cleaning and personnel services, and facility management.

History

  • 1934: Karl Friedrich Kötter founded the Westdeutscher Wach- und Schutzdienst (WWSD) in Wanne-Eickel.
  • 1957: Friedrich Karl Kötter takes over the company in the second generation.
  • 1960: Establishment of the first branches in Cologne, Stuttgart and Frankfurt am Main.
  • 1966: Start of the security technology department.
  • 1970: Launch of KÖTTER cash and valuables services.
  • 1985: Founding of KÖTTER Cleaning.
  • 1993: Martina Kötter and Friedrich P. Kötter join the company management (third generation). WWSD becomes KÖTTER Services.
  • 1997: Launch of KÖTTER Personal Service.
  • 1999: Founding of the KÖTTER Academy.
  • 2001: Founding of KÖTTER Aviation Security.
  • 2011: Founding of the muTiger Foundation together with the Rhine-Ruhr Transport Association.
  • 2012: Founding of KÖTTER Fire & Service and German Business Protection.
  • 2017: Commissioning of the high-tech control center in Essen.
  • 2024: Provider of cyber security solutions.
  • 2024: KÖTTER Security acquires the Stade-based WAKO Group, founded in 1904 and with more than 800 employees.
  • 2024: Through its investment in IT specialist G.I.P., KÖTTER Security becomes one of the first security service providers in Europe to offer truly 360-degree security solutions.
