Security in Accordance with the ISPS Code

Maritime Security

Convinced that ships and harbors can also becom the target of terrorist attacks, the IMO (International Maritime Organisation) compiled guidelines for handling such situations in December 2002.  These guidelines are known as the ISPS-Code (International Ship and Facility Security Code).
The primary focus of these regulations for ships includes new principles for the recognizability, communication and access control for persons and cargo.
For harbor facility management companies at harbors with international ship traffic, the primary focus is on security and risk analysis.  This is followed by the identification of weak points and the evaluation of their protection worthiness as well as the development of a corresponding defense plan.

As an RSO (Recognized Security Organization), KÖTTER Security offers the following services in the field of maritime security:

  • develop risk analyses and defense plans
  • person, access  and loading controls
  • staff training on board ships and at harbor facilities
  • video surveillance, hazard alarm technology and electronic registration plate identification on the gangway
